Lisa (00:00):

… Five. A Hadley woman is accused of unleashing a swarm of bees on sheriff’s deputies.

David (00:05):

It is such a wild story. They say she was actually trying to stop an eviction. WBZ’s Paula Ebben joins us now. Paula, some of the officers, though, were actually hurt on scene.

Paula Ebben (00:13):

They were, David and Lisa. Deputies say this is unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. On October 12th, sheriff’s deputies say, this was a week ago, they were trying to enforce an eviction in Longmeadow when 55-year-old Rorie Susan Woods pulled up.

(00:30)
They say she got out of her car, walked back to a group of what police called manufactured beehives that she was towing behind her SUV. Deputies say when Woods began opening the lids to release the bees, they tried to stop her. That’s when she allegedly began smashing the lids and flipped a hive off the trailer, causing the bees to become very agitated and aggressive, and they began stinging officers and bystanders.

(00:57)
Well, deputies say Woods then put on a beekeeper suit and carried a tower of bees near the front door of the home in an attempt to stop the eviction.

(01:07)
So Woods was arrested on the scene. She is now facing charges, including, David and Lisa, four counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. That would be the bees.
