Possible Serial Killer Targeting Muslim Men in New Mexico Transcript

Erin McLaughlin: (00:00) Tonight in Albuquerque, New Mexico, fears a possible serial killer is on the loose and gunning down Muslim men. Police now on the hunt for this car, after a string of what authorities are calling, targeted killings across the city. Speaker 2: (00:14) We cannot denounce strongly enough, what appears to be the targeting of people because of their race and religion. Erin McLaughlin: (00:21) The latest victim was shot dead Friday. Authorities have yet to name him, but tonight his family identifying him as Naeemm Hussain. His brother in-law telling NBC news, Naeem's friends found his body around midnight in a parking lot in east Albuquerque. Speaker 3: (00:36) And they approached the vehicle and saw Naeem and they opened the door. As soon as they touched him, he slouched over and fell over. His head and face were all injured. Erin McLaughlin: (00:48) Chillingly, a spokesperson for the community tells NBC news that hours before his murder, Naeem had attended the funeral service of two other murder victims, Muhammed Afzaal Hussain and Aftab Hussein, both shot and killed days before in separate attacks. Speaker 4: (01:04) I remember seeing him at the funeral and all I told him was, "Hey, just look out. Be careful." Erin McLaughlin: (01:09) All three were from Pakistan, all with the last name, Hussain. Authorities now circling back to see if those murders are in any way linked to the Albuquerque killing of Mohammed Ahmadi in November of last year, gunned down outside his family store. His family says, they're now living in fear. Speaker 5: (01:27) Everybody's scared. They say we are not safe anymore. Some people, they already want to leave the city. Erin McLaughlin: (01:33) A tight-knit community in mourning, now also feeling under attack. Speaker 3: (01:37) I just don't believe it. I've been waiting for a phone call from him or something.
