Updates on Rev's Safety and Wellbeing Efforts During Coronavirus

RevBlogRev SpotlightUpdates on Rev’s Safety and Wellbeing Efforts During Coronavirus

We are closely monitoring the public health situation related to the novel strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) that originated in Wuhan, China. Both the World Health Organization and the United States Government have declared the coronavirus a public health emergency. In an effort to ensure the health and safety of our employees, Rev has implemented new work from home policies and travel restrictions for full-time employees.

In line with Rev’s flexible work policies and mission to create fulfilling work from home jobs for freelancers, we are supporting full-time employees as they transition to work from home. We are staying close to the rapidly-evolving situation and will continue to update our approach as information becomes available from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, and local authorities.

We are erring on the side of caution in order to reduce the risk of employees contracting or inadvertently spreading the virus. It is important that we take these proactive steps to protect ourselves and others and minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Work from home policy

  • Rev’s San Francisco office: All employees at Rev’s San Francisco office have been instructed to work from home effective March 2, 2020, until further notice. This office will remain closed for the time being. All meetings should be held via video conferencing or conference calls.
  • Rev’s Austin Office: All employees at Rev’s Austin office have been instructed to work from home effective March 9, 2020, until further notice. This office will remain closed for the time being. All meetings should be held via video conferencing or conference calls.

Employees who become ill or who have family members who become ill have been instructed to work directly with their primary care physicians to determine their eligibility to return to work.

On-site interviews

All on-site interviews will be conducted virtually for the next four weeks. We will reassess if this period needs to be extended at that time.

Travel restrictions

We have implemented the following travel restrictions for all previously booked and new business travel. These are in effect until May 1, 2020, with weekly reassessments for travel risk.

  • Business Travel – All employees must postpone business travel (including inter-office, sales-related, conferences, events, off-sites, etc.) and cancel existing travel. Rev will reimburse employees for any expenses incurred.
  • Personal Travel – We ask that employees not travel for business or personal reasons to the countries listed on the CDC Alert or Warning list, currently China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, and Japan. If an employee or their immediate family must travel to one of these locations or a location that is added to the list, they will be required to work from home for 14 days upon their or their family member’s arrival. During this time, it will be prohibited to visit any of Rev’s offices or conduct in-person meetings. Rev’s People Partner is available to help make arrangements to work from home during this time. Employees who become ill or who have family members who become ill should work directly with their primary care physicians to determine their eligibility to return to work.
