Speaker 1 (00:00):

… Happened to other individuals who the US government deported to Ghana in recent weeks.

crowd (00:06):

Shame. Boo.

Speaker 1 (00:08):

Shame. This is just another attempt by the government to punish Kilmar, to pick another country, another random country to try to send him to where he will not be protected.

crowd (00:22):

Shame!

Speaker 1 (00:25):

We see the cruel, dirty game that the government is playing and the judge will see it too.

crowd (00:32):

Yes.

Speaker 1 (00:33):

Now I know that we are all tired of the government's dirty games and delay tactics. We're tired. It has been seven months, seven months of the US government playing with Kilmar's life, playing with the lives of his wife and children.

crowd (00:52):

Shame.

Speaker 1 (00:52):

I honestly did not think that we would still be having this fight seven months later. But y'all, we cannot give up. We cannot give up the fight. There is too much on the line. There is too much on the line. Our freedoms are on the line. The freedoms of our children, the freedoms of our children's children are on the line. We cannot give up. And we have come too far and we have made too much progress to give up.

Speaker 2 (01:32):

That's right.

crowd (01:34):

We are not giving up now.

Speaker 1 (01:35):

We are not giving up now.

crowd (01:35):

Not giving up.

Speaker 1 (01:41):

Let's go back in time a little bit. Remember when they said Kilmar would never again step foot on US soil? Remember that? Remember that? And here he's back on US soil.

(01:58)
Remember when they said that Kilmar would never again walk a free man in the United States? Remember that?

crowd (02:06):

Yes.

Speaker 1 (02:10):

Kilmar walked a free man.

Speaker 2 (02:12):

Yes he did. Yes, he did.

crowd (02:15):

Justice for Kilmar.

Speaker 1 (02:15):

Justice for Kilmar.

crowd (02:15):

Justice for Kilmar.

Speaker 1 (02:20):

Kilmar went and got a haircut. He went and got a Subway sandwich. He was a free man. It happened once and we can make it happen again. All of us standing right here, we'll make it happen again.

Speaker 2 (02:40):

That's right.

Speaker 1 (02:41):

How? We'll keep up the hope and we'll keep up our movement. We will make it happen again. Kilmar will walk a free man again. So let's send a message loud and clear to Attorney General Bondi, Secretary Kristi Noem and President Trump. You can shut down the government, but the power of the people only grows stronger.

Speaker 2 (03:13):

That's right.

Speaker 1 (03:14):

Our movement only grows stronger.

Speaker 2 (03:20):

That's right.

Speaker 1 (03:22):

We will not back down. We will keep fighting. We will rise up. We will stand tall. We will fight back and we win. Due process will win. The Constitution will win, and justice will prevail for Kilmar and for all in our community that the government is trying to silence and erase, justice will prevail.

Speaker 2 (03:51):

That's right.

Speaker 1 (03:51):

Todos somos Kilmar.

crowd (03:51):

Todos somos Kilmar.

Speaker 1 (03:51):

Todos somos Kilmar.

crowd (03:51):

Todos somos Kilmar.

Speaker 1 (03:51):

We are all Kilmar.

crowd (03:51):

We are all Kilmar.

Speaker 1 (03:51):

We are all Kilmar.

crowd (03:51):

We are all Kilmar.

Speaker 1 (04:10):

To get us started, please welcome Reverend Dr. Robert Turner with Empowerment Temple to lead us in prayer. Reverend, please come on up.

Reverend Dr. Robert Turner (04:22):

Truly honored to be here. Let us pray. Almighty and eternal. Lord, we call upon your name as you watch over us. We call upon your name for Kilmar. We ask the Lord that you bless him to be as you made him, free. Bless him, oh God, to leave this place to go home. God, we ask for favor from the judge. We pray for power for these protesters that you strengthen their voices, that you strengthen their hands, their feet, that they shout and make their voices known. Because God, they can shut down the government but they can't shut down you.

Speaker 1 (05:18):

Amen.

Reverend Dr. Robert Turner (05:19):

They cannot shut down your power and they can never shut down your truth and your truth will reign. He is innocent, has been innocent, but has been mistreated and we read and we know that you stand on the side of the oppressed. Todos son Kilmar, we thank you. We praise you in Jesus' name. Amen.

crowd (05:47):

Amen.

Speaker 1 (05:50):

Thank you so much. Thank you so much Reverend Turner for those words. Now I know some of you may have walked in recently, so I just want to remind you, for those of you who have not already, please make sure Secretary Noem hears from you directly. She needs to see Kilmar's face in her mailbox. She needs to read your message in your handwriting, sign a postcard to the secretary, urging her to free Kilmar once and for all. Our dear Ninfa is holding up the postcards right there. When you have a moment, please go and write a message, sign a postcard. We need to flood her mailbox with messages of doing the right thing and free Kilmar.

(06:37)
I would like to welcome Delegate Nicole Williams, chair of the Prince George's delegation to share a few words with us. Thank you so much for being here with us today, Delegate.

Delegate Nicole Williams (06:53):

Thank you so much. I also want to invite up Delegate Bernice Maricou North is also with us from Montgomery County. We're both attorneys and we both took an oath to the United States Constitution, to the Constitution of the state of Maryland when we became members of the bar, when we became officers of the court. And to see what is going on today when people, our elected officials ignoring our constitution, ignoring the laws of this land, ignoring due process justice for all. It is an abomination to sit there as the leader of the free world and say, you are not going to adhere to the laws of the free world.

(07:44)
So we're here to tell the federal administration to set Kilmar free.

Delegate Bernice Maricou North (07:50):

That's right.

crowd (07:50):

Free Kilmar.

Delegate Nicole Williams (07:53):

Free Kilmar. He's being used as a political pawn for this administration, and it needs to stop and it needs to end today.

crowd (08:03):

That's right.

Delegate Nicole Williams (08:04):

You are messing with people's lives, with people's families, with people's children, with people's fathers, God's children. You say you're a man of God, then think about what you are doing in his image. There's only but so much we can do on the state level, but we are fighting every single day here in the state of Maryland to try to bring equality and justice for all.

crowd (08:33):

Thank you.

Delegate Nicole Williams (08:40):

Now, last session I introduced, Bernice was a co-sponsor of legislation that we had in Maryland to N 287 G agreements. We're going to be bringing that back again. We're going to be working on legislation with regards to masking by law enforcement officers.

crowd (09:02):

Thank you.

Delegate Nicole Williams (09:04):

We need to start treating everyone, I don't care where you're from, in a humane and decent way. And that's what we are going to be fighting for every single day until Kilmar is free and Kilmar comes home because this is the country of the land of the free and the home of the brave.

crowd (09:23):

That's right.

Delegate Nicole Williams (09:28):

And so stop using Kilmar for your own political gain. Bring Kilmar home. Thank you.

crowd (09:42):

Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home. Bring Kilmar home.

Speaker 1 (09:58):

Thank you so much to our lawmakers who are making clear that they stand not only with Kilmar, but with our entire immigrant community. You see, if we allowed the government to get away with abducting a father off the street and then caging him for daring to exercise his rights to fight back, we are all doomed. None of us is safe. We cannot let it stand, and we will use every tool at our disposal, including legislation to make sure that we are all protected. So thank you to our legislators who continue to stand with us. Now, I would like to call on Reverend Leslie Crowland from St. Albans to please close us out in prayer.

Reverend Leslie Crowland (11:06):

Let us pray. Eternal Father, spirit and word. We give thanks for this new day and for this gathering of family, friends, and counselors who accompany Kilmar Abrego-Garcia on this journey for justice. God, you led your people through the wilderness in stages, in a pillar of cloud by day and by night, a pillar of fire. In your light, may all people see light. In your straight path, may we walk tall with quiet confidence and fortitude in pursuit of peace and justice, and not stumble. Open our hearts, ears, and eyes to recognize you in the face of every person we meet this morning. As we approach another stage of this journey, we ask that by the might of your spirit, give Abrego his family, his friends, and his legal team, wisdom, strength and courage to obtain justice and truth in this and every stage of the journey. [foreign language 00:12:27]. Amen.

crowd (14:02):

Amen.

Speaker 1 (14:07):

Thank you so much, Reverend Crowland. Look, we had a short program today because I know we are all eager to get inside that courtroom and see and hear what happens today. So it is time for us to go inside and hear what excuses the government has this time and to see what the judge does with that. Today might be the day that Judge Zinnis finally orders that Kilmar be set free. No more excuses. Today might be the day. We are hopeful, but remember, no matter what happens in that courtroom, our fight continues.

(14:54)
During those few hours that Kilmar was a free man on August 25th that morning in Baltimore he spoke to us. Remember that?

crowd (15:05):

Yes.

Speaker 1 (15:07):

And we made a promise to him that we would not stop fighting, that we would continue fighting. We made that promise to him. So no matter what happens in that courtroom, we do not stop fighting until Kilmar is free and with his family where he should be. Thank you all.

Delegate Nicole Williams (15:40):

Is it today? I don't. It might be or something. Okay. Monday. Okay. Okay, cool. Yeah, I got you. I got you from my list. Oh yes. For me, it's a symbol of he is a representation of the many hundreds and thousands of individuals who were being targeted by the Trump administration for just simply wanting to be here in America and to have a better life for his family, who has not committed any illegal acts. That to prove that simply came to his country in search of the American dream and use a representation of the thousands of people who every day come to the miracle in search of the American dream.

(16:56)
What makes me angry is the way that they are going about justifying their discrimination against certain individuals. That's not what this country should do. And that's what makes me so frustrated because [inaudible 00:17:26]. Do you have my card? Legislation against?

Speaker 8 (17:39):

I live in Silver Spring.

Delegate Nicole Williams (17:39):

[inaudible 00:18:09].

Speaker 9 (19:28):

We're asking legislators to sign …
