Tonight, new information about the devastating communication breakdown at Robb Elementary.

We still don’t have all of the answers.

State Senator Roland Gutierrez telling NBC News that according to a law enforcement official close to the investigation, the school’s Police Chief, Pete Arredondo, did not have his radio with him during the shooting, though that is not publicly been confirmed.

Morgan Chesky: (00:21)
Do people here not even know who to believe anymore?

They’re very angry here in Uvalde. They’re angry at the police, at the troopers, at everybody.

Morgan Chesky: (00:29)
Over the last 10 days, there have been mixed messages and shifting stories. DPS initially said the gunman was engaged by a school resource officer who was later found to have not even been on campus. And investigators first said the gunman got into the school through a door propped open by a teacher. We’ve now learned she did, in fact, close that door.

Speaker 3: (00:47)
They’re supposed to be locked. She expected it was locked. She thought it was locked, right? Because that’s why she slammed the door.

Morgan Chesky: (00:53)
Next week, as Congress negotiates gun legislation, survivors from Buffalo and Uvalde, including the 11-year old who covered herself in blood and played dead will testify before the House Oversight Committee.

No 86-year-old should fear for her safety to go to the grocery store. No nine-year-old should be afraid to go to school, and no 18-year-old should be able to buy a weapon of war.

New York is already taking action. The state legislator passed a bill raising the age to buy a semiautomatic rifle from 18 to 21. Back in Uvalde, nine-year-old Jacklyn Cazares was laid to rest. And there was a joint service for 10-year-old cousins Jayce Luevanos and Jailah Silguero. Their uncle’s saying, “Fly high my beautiful angels!” Morgan Chesky, NBC News, Uvalde.
