Trevor Noah Exits 'The Daily Show' After 7 Years Transcript
Speaker 1: (00:00) It's the end of an era at The Daily Show. Trevor Noah: (00:02) I realized that after the seven years, my time is up. Speaker 3: (00:10) [inaudible 00:00:10]. Trevor Noah: (00:10) Yeah, but in the most beautiful way. Speaker 1: (00:13) Longtime host Trevor Noah announced on Thursday, in the clip shared on Twitter before the evening's episode, that he is leaving the late night talk show after seven years. Trevor Noah: (00:22) One of the overriding feelings I found myself experiencing throughout the nights and even today waking up was a feeling of gratitude. Ronnie, the journey we've been on together has been wild. Roy, all the correspondents, everyone. There's so many people who make this thing come together. I want to say thank you to the audience for an amazing seven years. It's been wild. Speaker 1: (00:43) Noah continued by saying that when he was chosen to be host, it was a crazy bet to make. But what a journey it's been. He also reminisced on some of the monumental events that happened during his run on the show. Trevor Noah: (00:55) I've loved hosting this show. It's been one of my greatest challenges. It's been one of my greatest joys. I've loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh, even when the stories are particularly shitty on the worst days. We've laughed together, we've cried together. But after seven years, I feel like it's time. Speaker 1: (01:18) Noah ended by saying that he's really grateful to a network who believed in this "random comedian nobody knew on this side of the world". The Daily Show premiered in 1996 with Craig Kilborn as host. Jon Stewart took over from 1999 to 2015, when he handed the reins to Noah.
