AI, Ethics, and the Fear of Breaching Privilege
As AI tools enter the legal workflow, attorneys face heightened concerns about confidentiality, privilege, and security. This session examines what lawyers need to know when evaluating technology vendors, including compliance frameworks, data handling policies, and the crucial distinctions between generative AI and traditional speech recognition. Participants will leave with a practical framework for safeguarding privilege while leveraging modern tools responsibly.

Sean Hightower
Sean Hightower is a partner at Hightower, Franklin, & James PLLC, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He also serves as the Director for the Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital District, and as a member of the Board of Directors for TCDLA. Sean was selected by the SFA Alumni Association as the 2020 Outstanding Young Alumnus. Sean’s practice is primarily limited to State and Federal Criminal Defense in Deep East Texas. In 2022, Sean sued the Department of Public Safety for a violation of the Texas Whistleblower Act. A jury awarded his Trooper clients $1.7 million. Hightower, Franklin, & James has collected over $ 85 million for clients since 2023.
