U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski and two of her staff members died on Wednesday in a car crash in her home state of Indiana. News of her death prompted an outpour of condolences from her Republican and Democratic colleagues in Congress, as well as President Joe Biden. Police in Indiana said the car carrying the Congresswoman and her staffers on Wednesday was hit head on by another vehicle, which veered into their lane. Walorski was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012, served on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is the top Republican on the subcommittee for Worker and Family Support. In a statement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that Walorski, “Passionately brought the voices of her North Indiana constituents to the Congress and was admired by colleagues on both sides of the aisle for her personal kindness.”
